BALANGA CITY — City government of Balanga launched Monday a mobile kitchen program that will cook and deliver meals to affected residents during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) period.
The Barangay Kitchen Station Program, first launched in Barangay Malabia, includes tools such as two heavy duty stoves, two large pots, ladle spoons, and other kitchen appliances. It will also provide the basic cooking ingredients.
“Each barangay will assign a health worker and two nutrition scholars who will prepare the meals to be delivered to residents via home-to-home distribution on a daily basis,” Mayor Francis Garcia said.
Beneficiaries of the program shall be residents who belong to the 30 percent of the households identified by the city government as severely affected by ECQ.
Moreover, barangays will also receive mobilization fund that they can use for additional needs of the program.
“We will be able to overcome this trial and we will ensure that no Balangueño will be hungry,” Garcia added.
The program is in cooperation with the provincial government of Bataan, Office of 2nd district representative Jose Enrique Garcia III, the city’s 25 barangays, private sector and religious organizations.
