Senators eye extension of ECQ until April 30

Senators are eyeing the possible extension of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until April 30.

Senators Franklin Drilon, Joel Villanueva, Ralph Recto and Sherwin Gatchalian share the same view to extend the implementation of ECQ since medical experts are starting to see the post-quarantine data of COVID-19 patients.

Lawmakers are also considering the ‘no travel policy’ to and from Luzon, no opening of malls and churches and prohibition of mass gatherings from May 1 to May 30.

Some establishments will also be allowed to open to help businesses regain income.

Results of mass testing after the month-long quarantine will also determine the extension of this strict protocol.

The Department of Health announced earlier that the mass testing will prioritize persons under monitoring and persons under investigation showing symptoms of coronavirus.
