CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac — All military personnel of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Headquarters agreed to donate a portion of their meal allowance to those severely affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine.
In a statement, NOLCOM Commander LtGen. Ramiro Manuel Rey said they took the initiative to help the Department of Social Welfare and Development and local government units in giving additional food packs to communities who live in a “hand to mouth existence” as part of their Humanitarian Assistance Operations.
“It is hard when you see it first hand, the people having not enough money to feed their families, that is why we are trying to donate some of our allowances to help the communities who are most vulnerable in this trying time,” he said.
“NOLCOM soldiers are also placed on the frontline yet they are still willing to extend their help to those who are in need, for that, I thank all of our personnel for their good deeds. I am asking the public to pray for the safety and protection of our frontliners who are selflessly serving our people in fighting off the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Let us always remember that we are all in this together, the government is doing everything to support the people’s needs for us to Stay Home to Save Lives. The action of one could affect the whole country. With God’s help, we will get through this,” Rey furthered.
NOLCOM continues to assist with all COVID-19 related operations in Northern and Central Luzon and is encouraging organizations, families, or individuals who would like to donate or provide additional help to the people to coordinate with the unified command to avoid duplication of distribution to some areas and to extend the reach of help to those who are much more in need.
