Some 7,000 pieces of milkfish, each weighing approximately half a kilo, and 100 cavans of rice were distributed by a fishpond operator to residents of Barangay Sagrada Familia in Hagonoy, Bulacan on Wednesday.
Each household were given three pieces of milkfish and three kilos of rice that were put on buckets placed in chairs outside the houses of the residents as relief food donations by Triple 7 Aquatic Farm..
The company manager Ravel Marcelo said they decided to donate fresh fish and rice to the residents badly affected by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine instead of the usual instant noodles and canned goods because it is more palatable and healthier to the recipients.
He said they understand the plight of the people affected by the lockdown due to Covid-19, most of whom have a hard time keeping both ends meet due to the enforcement of quarantine protocol.
“Aside from barangay Sagrada, we are planning to conduct another relief goods distribution in nearby barangays next week,” Marcelo added..
Hagonoy is a coastal town known for its fishpond industry that include the raising of milkfish, tilapia, shrimps and crabs.
