A magnitude 5 quake struck Quezon province on Thursday afternoon sending tremors in Metro Manila, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
PHIVOLCS Director Renato Solidum assured that aftershocks, if any, will be weaker than the initial jolt that happened around 3:10pm.
PHIVOLCS said that the earthquake occured in the municipality of General Nakar, Quezon, at a depth of 18 km.
Students of the Mandaluyong High School went out of their school buildings during the first tremor. Evacuations were also reported in some parts of Metro Manila but no damage has been reported.
