A free webinar entitled “Engage in Green 2020” is set on September 11 at 10:00am.
This event is spearheaded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs through its Green Trade Project Office. The online gathering is focused on the environmental industry, sustainability sector and circular economy. This two-hour virtual learning session is offered exclusively to “green” businesses in the Philippines.
The webinar will feature resource persons from Taiwan’s Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) who will discuss topics on green energy and circular economy. With Taiwan at the forefront of environmental innovations through the boom among its green companies, the webinar is expected to deepen bilateral relations between Taiwan and the Philippines.
Brian Poe Llamanzares, son of Philippine Senator Grace Poe, will give his keynote speech on climate change adaptation during the event. Llamanzares completed his master’s program in Climate and Society at Columbia University in New York.
“Our target is for us to establish communication networks with potential buyers in the Philippines by organizing this digital activity,” Chung-Wen Chen, Marketing Manager of ITRI’s Emerging Region Collaboration Group said.
Prof. Chen Chang-Ren, secretary-general of the Taiwan Green Technology Industry Alliance will represent Taiwan as a resource person for the webinar.
More than 50 participants are expected to attend this gathering of ‘green’ business leaders, industry experts, environmental advocates, academicians, and representatives from the government and private sectors.
“We also invited experts from the Philippines who will shed light on sustainability and climate change adaptation,” Earl Tongol, head of the organizing team from the Philippines said.
“One of the confirmed speakers from the Philippines is Prof. Colin Hubo who will be sharing his knowledge on sustainability reporting,” Tongol added. Prof. Hubo is currently the Executive Director of the Center for Social Responsibility of the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) and is considered as a leading expert in the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
Companies from Taiwan are set to collaborate through linkages and partnerships. An off-shoot of the webinar is an exclusive business-matching activity which will happen in the afternoon of the same date. A total of 10 companies from Taiwan confirmed their attendance to the online networking opportunity. These Taiwanese companies come from the solar, waste management, recycling, green building materials/construction, and natural products industries. A total of 15 companies will be showcasing their products and services during the business matching event.
Online registration for the webinar will run from August 10-31, 2020. For more information about the event, interested participants may visit www.engageingreen2020.com or email [email protected].
