MANILA – Most parts of the country will experience rains for the next 24 hours due to the monsoon trough affecting the country, a state forecaster said Thursday.
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather specialist Benison Estareja said it will be rainy in the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon. Manila will also experience rains, especially in the afternoon or at night.
“Take precautions against possible flooding and landslides, and thunderstorms,” he said.
The monsoon trough will also bring rains over the Visayas and Mindanao.
Estareja said light to moderate rains are likely over the western section of the Visayas.
Rains over the Visayas and Mindanao may also be experienced in the afternoon. Estareja also cautioned residents in these areas against possible flooding during heavy rains.
PAGASA forecast light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas to prevail over the entire archipelago.
Meanwhile, Estareja said a low pressure area (LPA) was spotted near the Philippine boundary, about 655 kilometers west of northern Luzon.Currently, it has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, he said. (PNA)
