DTI, TSU train food handling

TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Tarlac State University (TSU) gathered food service operators for the conduct of a seminar on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

This is in line with the agency’s program which trains Tarlaqueños from various sectors to further improve their individual skills and organizational performance.

DTI Tarlac Trade Industry Development Analyst Jhoy Alouh Pangilinan stressed that participants under Tarlac Association of Restaurant and Hotel Owners were briefed to ensure the safe food production from processing to packaging.

“The activity provided food handlers with an awareness, learning enhancement and understanding of food safety,” she explained.

Resource speaker Leah Matias of TSU tackled food safety and its prerequisite programs, and the importance of identifying hazards and quality control in food.

GMPs include the basic operational and environmental conditions required to produce safe food.
