Behold, this city has a new queen!
Camille Claudio Ocampo, 20 years old from Barangay Dolores is now the enthroned queen of the home of beauty queens — Mabalacat City.
A broadcaster and a beauty queen in the making, she is a Communications degree holder from the Holy Angel University in Angeles City, Pampanga.
“Honestly speaking, this is my first. It is a very big deal that my first pageant is Miss Mabalacat City knowing that this is already a major pageant. And I’m still speechless; I prayed for it, I worked hard for it. I guess this is already the perfect timing. Never too early, never too late,” Ocampo said.
This lass bested 13 other gorgeous entrants with her elegance, aptitude and wit as she was also hailed ‘Best in Casual Wear’ and ‘Best in Swim Wear.’ She was one of the six ‘Best in Talents’ during the presentation night staged at SM City Clark on January 17.
On being asked if President Rodrigo Duterte will visit Mabalacat City, where will she take him and why, Ocampo encourages PDU30 to visit Clark, of which 90% of its developed area belongs to Mabalacat City. She also highlighted Clark’s tourists-friendly destinations.
The other beauty titlists are 1st princess Angel Kiara Candelaria, 20 from Dapdap and 2nd princess, Best in Talent and Miss Telegenic Mary Grace Gonzales, 17, from San Francisco.
The special awards were bestowed to Mherisza Gomez of Mabiga (Miss Friendship), Shanine Liriel Manalo of Sto. Rosario (Miss Photogenic), Ma. Anne Silverio of Clark Air Base (Miss Personality), and Kimchie Joyce Dorado of Dau (Best in Long Gown).
They were judged accordingly by renowned arts and culture icons in the name of Chairman of Binulo Festival JP Martinez, Magalang Tourism Officer Ryan Miranda, Lubao Tourism Officer Ricky Pablo, Director of Medical Records at Pine Ridge Care Center in San Francisco, USA. The pageant was hosted Ken and Miss Mabalacat City 2016 princesses MJ Marfori and Fides Gem Serrano and guest host Kent Rodriguez.
Another plot twist from the grander and elaborate beau-con outside Manila aside from its astounding stage at about 14 feet-tall is that the questions to be answered by the aspiring ladies were raised by former Miss Mabalacat winners namely Arlyn Uylengco (2013), Kimberly Wijangco (2008), Shanly Reyes (2004), Lizelle Vergara (1998), Marlyn Maristela Castro (1996), Sarina Palo (1995) and Cherry Tiglao (1987) via video recording.
Pageant Chairman Dionisio Magbalot said this year’s world-class concert themed pageant is a superlative for the past 22 years. He even appealed to Mayor Marino Morales, Vice Mayor Christian Halili and the City Councilors to institutionalize this legacy which he assertively ensured to be preserved and sustained by his successor David ‘Davuh’ Reyes with the Power Mabalacat City Center for the Arts and its lead choreographer Pjhay Lansangan.
Behind this successful cascade of world-class performance are Douglas Nierras, Douglas Nierras Power Dance, Mayor’s Staff, General Services personnel, Sining Mabalacat headed by Dodjie Aguinaldo, Astrud Aguinaldo, and the Maintenance group.
Also in attendance to witness the coronation night are Board Members of Pampanga 3rd Distruct Atty. Ananias ‘Jun’ Canlas, 1st district Cherry Manalo and Benny Jocson.
