“My congressman — Mayor Pogi Lazatin. My mayor – Jonjon Lazatin II.” With these words, Pampanga Vice Governor Lilia “Baby” Pineda has thrown her support to the Lazatin siblings in a political exercise in 2025 that will see the brothers in a reversal of role in the local government.
“Siguradung siguradu ku, ing maging tutuking congressman ning First District, Congressman Pogi Lazatin. Siempre aliwa mu I Gov, aliwa mu I Mayor Lacson, Aliwa mu I Mayor Cris, siempre ing ‘Nanay’ na,” said Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, who addressed the newly-elected Barangays and Sangguniang Kabataan leaders after their mass oathtaking at the Royce Hotel and Casino on Thursday.
More than a year into the next elections, Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. and Rep. Lazatin II had been assured of support by the Pineda political clan, a portent of something that will quash the political plans of other would-be candidates in Angeles City and the First Congressional District.
Mayor Pogi is expected to run for Pampanga’s First Congressional District comprising Angeles City, and the town of Magalang and Mabalacat, while Rep. Jon is eyeing the Angeles City mayoral post.
VG Pineda has also congratulated Angeles City Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting for her work in the City Council.
“Congratulations Vice Mayor keng pamagtalan mu kareng City Council. Congratulations keng kekayung pisasanmetung.” (Congratulations for your good work in the City Council. Congratulations for your unity)
“Magaling yapu I Mayor Pogi. Magaling yang magaling pero atin pa mu rin metung a the best at kailangan maging mayor naning Angeles City. My mayor, Jonjon Lazatin II,” said VG Pineda.
“Kailangan ku pa po bang mangampanya king Angeles?,” VG Pineda asked the elected barangay leaders. The Lazatins are well entrenched in Angeles City and the First Congressional District, where their late father, Cong Tarzan Lazatin, made significant contributions in the development of the areas.
