AC gov’t starts distribution of Vit C to 4,429 kids

ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has instructed the City Nutrition Office to start the distribution of Vitamin C supplements to some 4,429 Angeleño kids, aged 0 to 24 months, all over the city’s 33 barangays via house-to-house delivery beginning on January 9, 2023.

This was confirmed by City Nutrition Officer Jermaine Jam Aguila, who recently had a meeting with Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel last January 3, 2023.

“Patuloy po ang suporta na binibigay ng Lazatin administration para masugpo po natin ang malnutrisyon, kaya naman po malaki po ang pasasalamat ng mga magulang ng mga batang nabigyan ng vitamins,” Aguila said.

According to Calaguas, the city government under the leadership of Mayor Lazatin, remains true to its mission to promote the welfare and health of all Angeleño youth by strengthening existing programs that aim to prioritize them.

Mayor Lazatin will continue to provide programs that will prioritize Angeleño kids, especially when it comes to providing them proper nutrition, Manuel echoed.

Meanwhile, the distribution of Pusong Mamon, a bun with malunggay, is still ongoing with 1,500 malnourished children aged five and below benefiting from this program.

The Pusong Mamon was launched last July 4, 2022.

In addition, 5,000 Angeleño kids, aged 0-24 months, were also given their Vitamin C supplements on February 2022.

To recall, 4,929 children with the same age bracket also received their Vitamins C on November 2021.

The allocated P12 million for the procurement of milk has benefited 50,723 children in the city’s 33 barangays last April 2020.

On the other hand, a highlight of Mayor Lazatin’s program for children was the achieved target number for the “Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio,” a nationwide campaign of the Department of Health for the distribution of the oral anti-polio vaccine.

A total of 43,392 children were given the said vaccine for the first wave, while 47,052 received the same vaccine on the second wave, giving Angeles City the highest recorded number of vaccinations in the whole Region III.
