AirAsia is back at CRK; flies to Kalibo, Davao

CLARK FREEPORT – After three long years of absence at Clark International Airport, AirAsia Philippines will be flying again to serve Clark-Kalibo and Clark-Davao routes starting March 27 and April 22 respectively, key official of the AirAsia said in a statement.

“We are reaffirming our commitment to make air travel more affordable, convenient and accessible to travellers outside Metro Manila,” said Captain Gomer Monreal, Director for Flight Operations during the formal launching held at Midori Hotel and Casino.

Monreal said AirAsia is thrilled to be painting Clark skies red again and connect Central and Northen Luzon to the rest of domestic and favourite destinations in the country.

AirAsia relocated its hub from CRK to Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) after its temporary pull-out following a strategic partnership with a local carrier in 2013. It has since been operating on a much larger scale with 14 aircraft.

“AirAsia expanded its domestic and international networks with flights from hubs at NAIA, Cebu and Kalibo.

Clark-Davao flights will be four times a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). Clark- Kalibo flights would be Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

Other major airlines servicing domestic routes via Clark include Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Cebu Pacific.

Clark International Airport Corporation President & CEO Alexander Cauguiran said the resumption of AirAsia operations at CRK is a welcome development not only for people in Central Luzon but also travellers in Northern Luzon.

“This is a big news for all of us here in Central and Nothern Luzon as AirAsia will again bridge Clark to Visayas and Mindanao,” said Cauguiran in a statement.

Meanwhile, SM City-Clark started rolling its free shuttle using electronic jees (ejeeps) to Clark International Airport with initial four units servicing CRK passengers.

“These shuttle ejeeps are stationed at SM-City Clark to ferry passengers to airport for free,” said Andrea Madlangbayan, SM City-Clark mall manager, during the launching of New@Hues held at Park Inn by Radison.
