Angeles City launches vax-to-rice program 

The city government of Angeles launched its vax to rice program to encourage more senior citizens to get their Covid-19 jabs. 

Under the program, which will be implemented from September 26 to 29, Angeleño senior citizens who will receive their first dose of vaccines will get five kilos of rice. 

“The vaccine is our only protection against the virus, that is why I encourage our residents, especially the elderly, to get vaccinated,” Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said.

Meanwhile, senior citizens who wish to get their second dose of vaccines and booster shots are also welcome to visit the Legislative Building on the said dates, provided they bring their vaccination cards.

To date, 405,190 residents already received their first dose of vaccines; 382,420 for the second dose; 91,849 for the first booster shot; and 9,849 for the second booster shot. 

Angeles is one of the 23 highly urbanized cities in the country to achieve herd immunity. 

It is also the only local government unit which implements blended scheme vaccination drive including the Ronda Bakuna and  Sundo Bakuna sa Barangay programs. 

Meanwhile, Angeleños not belonging to the senior citizen category,but wish to be vaccinated can visit the city’s six rural health units. (CLJD/MJSC-PIA 3)
