Operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested an incumbent barangay councilor after he sold methamphetamine hydrochloride, or shabu, to a poseur-buyer in Cebu on October 4, 2017.
PDEA Director General Aaron N Aquino identified the suspect as Arvin dela Fuente, 45 years old, a barangay councilor and resident of Barangay Can-asujan, Carcar City, Cebu.
At around 2:00 in the morning, agents of PDEA Regional Office VII (PDEA ROVII) under Officer-In-Charge atty. Ana Lynn Hernandez-Nob arrested Dela Fuente during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion III, Carcar City, Cebu.
Confiscated from the suspect were 10 packs of suspected shabu, weighing approximately 50 grams, with an estimated street value of P250,000.
Dela Fuente will be charged for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs of 2002.
The same day, the same operating unit arrested Segundo Caballero Jr., 44, and his 17-year-old daughter following an entrapment operation in their residence in Barangay Perrelos, Carcar City, Cebu that led to the confiscation of 10 packs of suspected shabu, weighing more or less 50 grams worth P250,000.
Later in the afternoon, elements of PDEA ROVII also arrested Luisito Flores, 30, during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. Ninety packs of shabu, weighing approximately 5.07 grams worth P25,350 were seized as a result of the operation.
Cases for violation of Section 5, of the anti-drug law will be filed in court against the Caballeros and Flores.
The arrested minor will be turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office in the region. Although a minor, she will be criminally liable under R.A. 9344 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act of 2006, if the court finds that she acted with discernment in committing the said offense.
