NEW CLARK CITY, Tarlac — As the nation celebrates the 117thLabor Day, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) and Department of Transportation (DOTr) honored the about 6,000 construction workers building various facilities at the National Government Administrative Center (NGAC) of New Clark City (NCC).
DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade, who led the tribute, lauded the workers for their sacrifices and efficiency in ensuring that the completion of Phase 1A of NGAC remains on track.
“I want to thank you for your dedication in the construction of this government project. These facilities are the gift of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to all Filipinos and this would not possible without your effort and toiling,” he stressed.
Tugade also emphasized the role and importance of the workers in realizing the vision of President Duterte to build world-class facilities for Filipinos through the Build Build Build Infrastructure program.
“There will be no buildings, roads, bridges and other government projects like the NCC without the construction workers. I know all your sacrifices and let me salute you for your good work and performance in helping the President fulfill his vision of a comfortable life for all Filipinos,” he stated.
As part of the tribute, Tugade and BCDA President Vivencio Dizon treated the workers to a raffle. From initially 500, the officials increased the sacks of rice to be raffled to 2,500 for the benefit of the construction workers.
NGAC is a 40 hectare project that is part of the 9,450 hectare NCC in Capas, Tarlac.
It has sports facilities that will host the 30th South East Asian Games this November namely a 20,000 seater Athletics Stadium, 2,000 seater Aquatics Center, and 525 unit Athletes’ Village.
Also for completion under Phase1A is a seven-storey Government Building which will serve as an integrated operations center for government agencies involved in disaster risk reduction and management, a 525 unit condominium type housing for government employees dubbed as “The Residences”, a commercial facility, and a River Park.
