BDO Kabayan Savings holder hits 2 million

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Thirteen years after BDO launched its Kabayan Savings or BDO Remit for Overseas Filipino Workers, account holders reached 2 million and still increasing, key official said in a statement. 

“BDO remit currently has 2 million Kabayan Savings holders, a product introduced in 2006 to encourage OFWs and their beneficiaries to save and eventually allow them to qualify other banking products,” said Genie Gloria, senior vice president and head of remittance BDO Unibank during the Pampanga leg of Pamaskong Handog held at SM Telabastagan here.

“BDO Remit noticed a significant improvement in the savings approach as indicated by the growth in their monthly savings” Gloria added.

Now on its eight year, Pamaskong Handog is BDO Remit way of giving back and recognizing OFWs for their trust and loyalty, said Gloria.

“With many OFWs coming home during the holidays, we take the season as an opportunity to honor and pay tribute to their hard work and sacrifices,” Gloria stressed. 

Raising OFWs financial knowledge, Gloria said will teach them of what they can do with their hard-earned money by allocating portion of savings and finding for investments suits for them on a long term goal. 

“They are saving more and they know their priorities and goals. for us, this improvement is a testament that BDO advocacy is working well for them,” said Gloria.

Movies stars Xian Lim and Kim Chiu and singer Ogie Alcasid capped the Pamaskong Handog event.
