CLARK FREEPORT – Cycling enthusiasts will soon experience a more convenient and more accessible routes in this Freeport as the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has started the construction of bike paths here.
The CDC Engineering Services reported that bike paths will have three meter-wide with two lanes bike paths. These will be along main thoroughfares in the Freeport including M.A. Roxas Highway, C.M. Recto Highway, Friendship Gate to Jose Abad Santos Avenue and also around the Parade Grounds. Additional traffic signages and blinking lights warning will also be put up to ensure a safer and more convenient ride as motorists and bike enthusiasts alike traverse parallel and intersecting roads in the Freeport.
Meanwhile, in an interview with the members of cycling groups who frequently conduct their activities in this Freeport, the provision of bike lanes here may pave the way for both bike enthusiasts and employees to go to their work on bikes while this will also help promote a healthy lifestyle and less emission carbon dioxide.
Abel Carreon, one of the ride leaders in the 2nd Clark Cycling Challenge also underscored the importance of having bike racks to ensure the safety of each bikes.
“Ang Clark Global City (CGC) has already bike racks to promote healthy lifestyle dito sa Clark at isa rin sa nirerequest naman natin sa mga establishments ay yung maglagay ng mga bike racks para hindi rin mawala yung mga bikes and yun pwede na makapagbike ang mga nagtatrabaho dito sa Clark,” he said.
Accordingly, his fellow ride leader Jopay Carreon said that the features of the Freeport showcase safety and convenience for every biker. “Hindi kasi polluted sa Clark at safe na magbike dahil less yung mga vehicles,” she said.
Edna Eufemio, organizer of the 2nd Clark Cycling Challenge also mentioned that the provision of bike lanes and the conduct of the various sports-related events here will help promote this Freeport not only as a biking route but also as a tourism destination.
Aside from being a preferred location for various sports-related activities, this Freeport is poised as a destination where people can enjoy open spaces whilst being walkable, bikeable, green and specifically resilient. With its strategic location and higher elevation that makes it less susceptible to floods, this Freeport manifests a disaster resilient features that can withstand other natural disasters making it a practical and premiere recovery site during calamities and other disasters.
