Bulacan lines up activities for ‘Coop Month’

CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan joins the nation in Celebrating the “cooperative month” this October by pushing and spurring more growth and community- development programs in the province’s 21 towns and cities.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado said that the 30-day celebration will kick-off through a Cooperative Parade from Bulacan Sports Complex to Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium in this city on October 5, 2017 at 6 am that will be followed by the opening program.

The governor announced that Provincial Government of Bulacan (PGB) through the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) has lined-up an array of activities for the month-long celebration which aims to recognize the cooperative’s crucial role in savings mobilization, providing accessible and affordable credit, and in marshaling the resources and energies of the less economically fortunate towards economic development, political empowerment and socio-cultural reform.

Alvarado said that the Gawad GalingKooperatiba will be the highlight of the month-long celebration wherein the PCEDO will once again give recognition to outstanding cooperatives with notable contribution in the economic development of the province on October 27, 2017 at The Pavilion, Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center in this city.

PCEDO Head Cynthia P. Abiol added that delegates from the province are also set to join in the annual Kooplympics on October 20, 2017 that will take place in the province of Tarlac.

Pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 493, s. 2003 and Provincial Resolution No. 449, Bulacan will celebrate the Cooperative Month this October, which is anchored on the theme, “BULACAN: BUong LAkas sa KAunlaran ng PamayanaN”. —EMIL G. GAMOS
