Capitol distributes P39.2M to SH studes amid COVID-19 pandemic

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – In the midst of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the Provincial Government of Pampanga distributed P39,270,000 educational cash assistance (ECA) to 15,708 public school grade 12 completers across the province.

The Provincial Library, headed by Jasmine Carla Cordero, led the said distribution which started before the entire Luzon was placed under the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) on March 17.

According to Cordero, the assistance aims to support the student-beneficiaries who are struggling financially, especially in today’s time of crisis.

“Supposedly, this is the gift of our provincial government to our senior high school completers who wish to pursue college. However, due to the onslaught of the pandemic, this assistance can now serve as an additional support to provide the basic necessities of their families for the duration of the community quarantine,” she said.

The provision of the said assistance was made possible through the Gender and Development fund of Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Board Members.

Governor Delta, meanwhile, advised the students to still prioritize their studies for it is one of the keys to success.

“Anuman ang mangyari, mag-focus pa rin kayo sa inyong pag-aaral, isa pa rin iyon sa mga susi tungo sa ikagaganda ng inyong mga buhay. Kami naman sa provincial government, gagawin namin ang abot ng aming makakaya upang maasistahan kayo sa inyong mga pangangailangan,” he said.
