The special recognition cited the province of Pampanga for having established and operationalized a full-fledged office dedicated in the advancement of cooperatives and providing services and facilities in furtherance of their development.

“Pampanga was recognized as it is one of the leading provinces with an established cooperative office. In fact, out of the 81 provinces, no more than 20 received this kind of recognition,” Hwang disclosed.

According to PCEDO Head Luningning Vergara, the provincial government recognizes the vital role of cooperatives in improving economic opportunities that enhances the quality of life.

“PCEDO is actively supporting the strengthening of the Provincial Cooperative Development Council and the revitalizing of all Municipal Cooperative Development Councils (MCDC) in the province,” Vergara said.

The provincial government through the Provincial Board also passed a resolution that urges the mayors to detail an MCDC officer or adopt a plantilla for them. –LIEZEL CAYANAN/PIO
