Cris Garcia to be proclaimed by Comelec as Bataan Vice Governor

BALANGA CITY– Iskolar ng Bataan chief coordinator, Cris Garcia, also the governor’s cousin, is scheduled to be formally proclaimed tomorrow as the duly elected Vice Governor of Bataan.


This was confirmed by Acting Vice Governor Jovy Banzon to this reporter thru a phone call following a published article on the Manila Bulletin.

Cris Garcia personally emailed the documents to this reporter to confirm the news.

The formal proclamation is scheduled tomorrow at 10 a.m. at the Commission on Elections Session Hall at their Central Office in Intramuros, Manila.

The Garcia camp on May 2016 filed a petition for substitution citing a lingering illness and naming Cristina Garcia as official substitute for former congressman and then NUP vice gubernatorial candidate, Enrique T. Garcia, Jr.

Garcia died in June 13, 2016.

After several months of deliberation, the Comelec en banc issued a resolution recognizing Cristina Garcia as the substitute official candidate of the National Unification Party for vice governor.

While the Comelec was deliberating, Senior board member Jovy Banzon served as acting vice governor. –Michael Cigaral
