The City Government of San Fernando, in partnership with the private sector, has slated this year’s Alay Lakad or walk for a cause on November 25.
This was announced by Mayor Edwin ‘EdSa’ Santiago, together with Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. President Dr. Lourdes Javier and the Alay Lakad Executive Committee chaired by Engr. Noel Gomez, during a Press Conference on Monday.
Anchored on the theme “Kabiasnan dareng kainakan, Palabungan para king Pamagbayung Pagnasan,” the fund raising activity is aimed at providing educational assistance to out of school youth.
The number of scholars for Academic Year 2016-2017 totaled to 75 Fernandino students who are in the Senior High School and College level.
Javier said the foundation has already benefited more than 700 youth since its commencement in 1998.
“For years, Alay Lakad Foundation Inc. served as our partner in fulfilling our commitment to empower underprivileged youth by providing them quality education,” said Mayor EdSa.
He furthered that education is his administration’s top priority.
“We believe that poverty is not a hindrance to education and much more to success. We strive to send poor but deserving students to school so that they may pursue their dreams and uplift their families’ lives,” Santiago added.
Meanwhile, coin banks will also be distributed to private companies and establishments to raise more funds for the scholars.
