In commemoration of Cesar Legaspi’s centennial birth anniversary, the City Government of San Fernando through its City Tourism Office hosted an exhibit at the San Fernando Train Station.
The formal opening of the exhibit held December 4 was led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.
Dubbed “Miligtas,” the exhibit features Legaspi’s acclaimed art works such as “The Survivor”—an image of a kneeling figure with head turned up to a fiery orange sky that shows bravery and courage.
During the program, Dennis Legaspi, son of Cesar Legaspi, expressed his gratitude to the City Government of San Fernando for acknowledging his late father’s contribution to the arts industry.
“Isang malaking pribilehiyo sa amin na maipalabas ang mga obra maestra ng aking ama dito sa Syudad, sa ganitong paraan ay naipapakita namin sa lahat kung ano ang mga saloobin at pananaw ng aking ama para sa ating bayan,” Legaspi said.
For his part, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago said artistic masterpieces like Legaspi’s deserve recognition especially by the youth for these also show love and affection for the country.
“Bahagi ng ating buhay ang nakaraan at para pagdikitan ang kasalukuyan, kailangan huwag kalimutan ang nakaraan. Hindi tayo uusog sa panibagong yugto ng ating buhay kung hindi natin alam ang mga sinaunang pangyayari. Hangga’t maaari, ating alalahanin ang mga naging kontribusyon ni Cesar Legaspi sa pagbibigay niya ng lakas at inspirasyon sa ating bayan,” Santiago said.
The said exhibit will be up until February 4, 2018.
