Members of the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (Yes-O) Network in the City of San Fernando attend a lecture as part of their Environmental Youth Camp held over the weekend at the Heroes Hall.

“We want to engage the Fernandino youth in green issues in the community, thus mold them into future environmental leaders,” Rodriguez said.

The three-day camp was also filled with various teambuilding activities and discussions focused on the State of the Philippine Environment, Biodiversity, Water Education and Ecological Solid Waste Management.

During the culminating activity, the new set of the Fernandino Yes-O Network Officers were elected. Their President Mervielle Joyce Rosario from Pampanga High School will represent the youth in the City Solid Waste Management Board.

Her co-officers are Paulene Franco (Vice President), Peter Don Dela Vega (Asst. Vice President), Joshua De Dios (Secretary), John Regie Ramilo (Asst. Secretary), Richardo Lingat (Treasurer), Krizelle Joyce Polvoriza (Asst. Treasurer), and Board of Directors Marylyn David, Marie Ann Campos, Alyza Kate Serrano and Angel Adrienne Ato.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago congratulated the new officers and stressed their crucial role in creating a greener and healthier environment for the entire citizenry.

“The city’s environment agenda states that children must be taught on how to preserve and protect the earth well, for it is their future that is at stake. We hope that you help us achieve a better place for our beloved fellowmen,” Santiago added.
