CSF holds fire, rescue olympics for academe

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection San Fernando and Philippine Red Cross Pampanga-Angeles City Chapter, staged on August 31, 2019 the Joint Fire and Rescue Olympics at Heroes Hall.

Members of the city’s education sector, comprising of teachers and personnel of City Schools Division of San Fernando, were the participants for the second edition of the olympics, after its March premier for barangays.

Following a series of challenges, which include bucket relay, flammable liquid fire extinguishment, bandaging relay, and lifting and moving relay, the activity ended with participants from Information and Communication Technology High School emerging as first place winners.

Also leading the activity was City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Roderick Marquez who encouraged the participants to share the knowledge and skills they gained with other people.

Participants from the City Schools Division were named third placers while representatives from Northville High School were named second placers, alongside the “Best in Uniform” and “Best in Flammable Liquid Fire Extinguishment” awards.

Sindalan High School meanwhile clinched the other three special awards including “Best in Bucket Relay,” “Best in Bandaging Relay,” and “Best in Lifting and Moving Relay.”

The second Joint Fire and Rescue Olympics was in line with the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month with a theme, Kahandaan sa Sakuna’t Peligro Para sa Tunay na Pagbabago.”
