NDRM 2018 KICK OFF. The staff of City of San Fernando’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, headed by Raymond Del Rosario, show unity in a photo opportunity before the motorcade held Friday which serves as the the kick off activity of National Disaster Resilience Month 2018.
The Local Government of San Fernando, through its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), kicked off this year’s celebration of National Disaster Resilience Month (NDRM) through a motorcade from Brgy. Telabastagan to the downtown area in Brgy. Sto. Rosario.
This was also participated in by the Office of Civil Defense Region 3, Provincial DRRMO, DX3 Cabalen, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Red Cross, representatives from Barangays Del Carmen, Del Rosario and Sto. Rosario and various offices of the City Government.
CDRRM Officer Raymond Del Rosario said the activity aims to raise public awareness on the importance of disaster preparedness as the NDRM 2018 theme suggests: “Katatagan sa Kalamidad ay Makakamtam, Kapag Sapat ang Kaalaman sa Kahandaan.”
“Ito na yung ika-anim na taon natin sa pagsasagawa ng motorcade at nagpapasalamat tayo sa mga walang sawang sumusuporta sa ating kampanya at mga programa,” he added.
In an interview, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago stressed that various activities are lined up this month to further broaden the knowledge and capacity of Fernandinos in coping with the different kinds of disasters.
“We want to empower every individual because we believe that this is the best way to create a resilient community. Disaster preparedness is everyone’s concern and responsibility,” he added.
Meanwhile, after the motorcade, the city government also held a Thanksgiving Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral as part of the kick-off program.
