CSF police, CIDG Pampanga to relocate offices in Maimpis

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The police headquarters in this city and the Pampanga Criminal Investigation and Detection Group Field Office in nearby Angeles City will be housed at the government center in Barangay Maimpis here as lots had been allocated for the construction of both offices, Governor Lilia Pineda said on Monday.

Pineda said funds for the construction of the primary police station in City of San Fernando amounting to P13 million is available and was provided by higher police headquarters.

The governor said she will allocate P5 million for the construction of CIDG-Pampanga, she instructed government engineers to do the site development plan in area adjacent to the regional headquarters of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

There were moves to transfer CIDG-Pampanga from its original station in Angeles City due to alleged involvement in some controversies but the lack of available space and funds for the construction of new office hampers the planned relocation.

“PDEA is already there, next would be CIDG-Pampanga. The City of San Fernando police station will soon relocate to that place, pagtatabi-tabihin ko sila doon,” Pineda told reporters adding the provincial government is planning to construct another office which will serve as a complaint and action desk for Koreans.

The Korean complaint desk would be situated in a strategic place at the Korea Town in Friendship Highway, Angeles City, said Pineda.

“It will be manned by joint Korean civilian volunteers, local police, lawyer and an interpreter,” said Pineda. The project is part of the provincial government commitment to assist Koreans staying not only in Pampanga but also in other parts of Central Luzon.

Recently, Pineda and top officials of the Philippine National Police (PNP) hosted a consultation dialogue with Korean community leaders apparently aimed at defusing the tension and fears brought about by Jee Ick Joo kidnap-slay and other incidents that occurred involving foreign guests in Angeles City late last year.

Once completed, Pineda said the office will compliment with the propose P53 –million security project of Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.

Pineda said the Korean complaint and action desk will have a satellite headquarters at the Governor’s Office.
