A portion of Brgy. Panipuan in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga will be on hard lockdown starting today, July 1, 2020.
Mayor Edwin ”EdSa” Santiago recommended placing Pongking Street at Purok 7 of the said barangay to be under localized enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) three residents there tested positive of COVID-19.
While the street will under ECQ, the entire Purok 7 will be under General Community Quarantine in compliance with the protocols and guidelines of the Inter Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF).
The move aims to prevent the local transmission of the virus among the residents of the barangay.
Earlier today, Santiago and Dr. Renely Tungol, Incident Command Team of the local government, visited Barangay Panipuan to give directives to barangay officials headed by Captain Rodolfo Dizon.
The city mayor also implemented an 8pm-5am curfew for essential workers residing in Pongking St. and 9pm-5am for daily workers in the entire Purok 7.
The local government gave food packs to the 21 households along the identified street as they are not allowed to go outside.
Santiago urged the barangay officials to provide better and efficient public service to its constituents as they battle the virus.
“Ngayon kayo mas kailangan ng mga nasasakupan ninyo. Huwag tayong titigil na tulungan sila. Tayo ang kanilang pag-asa ngayon upang malampasan nila ang pagsubok na ito. Gaya natin, mahirap rin ito para sa kanila lalo na’t pansamantala munang tumigil ang kanilang paghahanap-buhay. Gawin natin ang lahat ng ating makakaya ngunit sa tamang pamamaraan upang matulungan ang ating mga kababayan,” he said.
Contact tracing and mapping were also done by the City Health Office to ensure the safety of people who have come into close contact with the Covid-positive individuals.
Meanwhile, a disinfection activity was conducted by the Task Force WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) in the whole barangay.
