CSU captures 2nd Gov. Susan Yap basketball tournament

TARLAC CITY – The Civil Security Unit [CSU) of the Provincial Government captured the 2nd Gov. Susan Yap inter-department basketball
tournament in Game 2 of the best-of-three championship series against the Jose V. Yap Sports and Recreational Complex team.

The CSU needed extra period to win, 84, 74, at the San Sebastian Covered court last week.

The tournament was part of the 118th Civil Service Anniversary of the provincial government of Tarlac.

Vice Governor Carlito “Casada” David said during the awarding ceremonies thanked capitol employees for their support to the programs and projects of Gov. Yap and the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan.

Miguel Tañedo, one of the organizers of the basketball tournament said that the tournament aimed was to foster unity, sportsmanship and camaraderie among capitol employees.

CSU head P/SSupt. Arthur Antonio [Ret.] said the team won because of hard work and perseverance, may this be carried out in the workplace.

Now on its second year, the tournament was participated by ten team representing the different departments of the capitol and were divided into two brackets – Bracket A consisting of CSU, Provincial Engineer’s Office, Provincial Equipment Pool Office and the combined Provincial Treasury and Provincial Cooperative Enterprise Development Office, while Bracket B consisted of Task Force, Provincial Governor’s Office [PGO], third placed Tarlac Provincial Hospital [TPH], Provincial Jail and the Provincial General Services Office [PGSO].

CSU bagged P15 thousand while runners-up Jose V. Yap Sports & Recreational Complex and TPH took home P10 thousand and P5 thousand respectively aside from trophies to all the winners.

Leo Mariano of the SCU was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament, while included in the mythical five are CSU’s Mark Ryan Ramos, Floresti Valdez and Ryan Gil Manalo, Rouques Mark Serviano of Jose V. Yap Sports & Recreational Complex and Kelly Timbol of PGO.

Special individual awardee received and extra cash incentives.

On other special awards, PGSO are adjudged best in uniform and who took home P10 thousand and this year’s best in muse is PGO’s Princess Arvy Quintal who received P3 thousand.

All the 28 games were officiated by the referees from the Samahang Basketbolista ng Pilipinas – Tarlac Chapter.
