Customs-NAIA adds manpower to accommodate returning OFWs

MANILA – The Bureau of Customs (BOC) has increased its manpower at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) to assist returning overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other repatriates.

In a Viber message on Tuesday, BOC spokesperson Vincent Philip Maronilla said the additional personnel will help over 60 Customs employees manning their posts.

“From a total of 63 examiners and appraisers personnel complement, there are additional front-liners from warehouses doing augmentation work,” he said.

The increase in the BOC-NAIA’s workforce comes as an initiative of the port in anticipation of the influx of returning Filipinos.

This came after some restrictions on air travel have been lifted amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.The government has started repatriating OFWs who were affected by the pandemic.
