DepEd Angeles City boosts campus journalists with intensive training for Regional tilt

Angeles City– The Department of Education – City Schools Division of Angeles conducted intensive training on Campus Journalism for the participants of the 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) scheduled for April 2024 at Pampanga High School, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

According to Rita Bundalian, journalism coordinator of DepEd Angeles City, this is the time to boost and augment their knowledge and preparation for their upcoming regional contest. The campus press conference contest is like a journalism Olympics for learners.

Winners of previous divisional contests are trained in the categories of News Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, Photojournalism, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Science Feature Writing, Copyreading, and Headline Writing. Group contests include radio broadcasting, TV broadcasting, online publishing, and collaborative desktop publishing.

JP Manalang, the Central Luzon Media Association (CLMA) Pampanga Chapter Auditor, is among the trainers in collaborative desktop publishing, helping the journalists come up with a well-designed newspaper layout for their contest pieces.

“By providing my tips and skills in CDP, giving them another perspective and added knowledge might help them prepare and be ready to face regional-level contests,” Manalang added.”
