DepEd holds ‘Oplan Kalusugan’ in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Department of Education (DepEd) kicked off Monday its Oplan Kalusugan (OK) One Health Week activity for School Year 2019-2020.

It advocates on good health that highlights the School-Based Feeding Program; National Drug Education Program; Adolescent Reproductive Health Education; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools Program; medical, nursing, and dental services; and the newly added School Mental Health Program. 

“OK sa DepEd is based on the objective of providing the basic primary health, nutrition and dental services to learners to allow them to achieve their full educational potential,” DepEd Regional Education Support Services Division Chief Sammy Sampang said.

It likewise seeks to practice healthier behavior among the whole school community and strengthening of linkages with health providers and local government units for child and adolescent health services. 

This week-long activity features health booths and exhibits, caravans, forums, presentation, and other information, education and communication campaigns.

“We always want to keep our students healthy because when they have a healthy body and a healthy mind, they can actively participate in the learning activities in school,” Sampang furthered. (CLJD/CJFV-PIA 3)
