DOST distributes teaching aids to public schools in La Paz

Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Tarlac turned-over multimedia teaching aids to the municipal government of La Paz for distribution to public schools.

The P750,000-worth project was funded under the Grants-in-Aid program in line with the town’s thrust to provide quality education for students, and heighten the students’ interest in science and technology (S&T).

DOST Provincial Director Karen Dañez emphasized the collaborative effort to level-up the science appreciation among students which could lead to more DOST scholars from La Paz.

“We are one with the Department of Education’s mission of protecting and promoting the right of every Filipino to quality and equitable education. We hope that through this intervention, we can spark students’ interest in S&T and hopefully increase the number of DOST scholars in the municipality,” Dañez said.

School-beneficiaries include Dumarais Elementary School, Engracio M. Castaneda Central Elementary School, Guevara National High School, and Comillas National High School.

The provision of multimedia teaching aids was conceptualized through Project Municipal Innovation Through Science & Technology (Project MIST).

It is a collaborative effort of DOST, provincial government of Tarlac, Tarlac State University and Philippine Information Agency.

Project MIST aims to bring substantial S&T innovations closer to the people with the active involvement of local government units.
