DOT, San Fdo gov’t beef up tourism, culture programs

The Department of Tourism and the the city government of San Fernando in Pampanga will intensify its Tourism and Culture programs to reach its goal of becoming a preferred destination in the country.

In line with the Bottom Up Budgeting scheme, the city government received a check amounting to P2.6 million intended for the promotion of tourism and culture industry of the city.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin D. Santiago said the budget will be maximized for the proposed Tourism Development plans, Tourism Marketing and Promotion Project, Tourism Promotion Collateral and the creation of the City Tourism brand.

“We want to boost our tourism capabilities as we envision to be one of the leading destinations not only in the province but in the entire country,” the mayor said.

The preservation of the city’s ‘Tourism and Culture’ is highlighted in the City of San Fernando’s new 10-point agenda.

Also present in the awarding rites are Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, City Administrator Engr. Fernando Limbitco, City Local Government Operations Officer Engr. Algy Canlas and City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan.

In 2013, the Department of Interior and Local Government launched the BUB program which provides financial assistance to local government units for the implementation of their proposed projects. #iorbitnews
