DPWH activates equipment, personnel for clearing and rescue operations

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has activated all equipment and personnel from Region III, NCR, Region IVA and their corresponding District Engineering Offices for clearing and rescue operations.

The DPWH has already established coordination with their corresponding Provincial Risk Reduction Management Council counterpart in the area for a more synchronized response.

The DPWH has also fielded the Rapid Assessment Team on buildings and structures for Central luzon and NCR. Dir Tolentino and Dir Canlas of Reg III and NCR, respectively, along wth BOM Director Gregorio were ordered by Sec Villar to conduct the rapid assessment on damages in the affected areas.

Teams have been deployed to assess structural integrity of key infrastructure in earthquake affected area.

UPMO Directors handling big ticket projects in Central Luzon and NCR were also given instruction to conduct assessment of their ongoing projects.

The DPWH identified that hard hit areas such as: Clark International Airport, Chuzon Supermarket in Porac town, damage Sasmuan-Lubao bridge, collapsed Dinalupihan-Pampanga Boundary Arch, megadike access roads inn Bacolor town, which is closed from Dolores to Calibutbut/Maliwalo in Bacolor, Pampanga and Floridablanca Consuelo Bridge.

In Manila, the safety officer of Emilio Aguinaldo College has been informed not to utilize the building anymore and to ask occupants to vacate the building. DPWH personnel has already cordoned one lane of UN Avenue to preclude any further impact on the building which may be caused by vehicles passing through the road.

The DPWH reported 102 injured, 5 casualties, 31 missing and 15 damaged properties in Region 3.
