DPWH completes flood control structure along Pentor Balsik River

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of a 134.75-linear meter flood control structure in Dinalupihan, Bataan.

It is located along the San Simon Section of the Pentor Balsik River.

DPWH Bataan 1st District Engineer Erlindo Flores Jr. said the P23.99 million structure is expected to prevent any runoff water from entering the farms and residential areas located near the waterway.

“We are building these flood control structures to protect residents and farmers living near the Pentor Balsik River from the devastating effects of flash floods in times of disaster,” he furthered.

“This will allow them to live and work without fear of losing their homes or livelihoods,” Flores added.

For his part, Barangay Captain Orlando Montemayor said they are grateful for the infrastructure projects implemented by DPWH such as the improvement of local road networks and the construction of flood mitigation structures, which mostly benefit farmers who live in this flood-prone area.
