DPWH completes flood mitigation project in Castillejos

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a flood mitigation project along the San Agustin Section of the Pamatawan River in Castillejos, Zambales.

It was implemented by Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office.

“The 336-lineal meter slope protection structure complements the existing river walls along the Pamatawan River and helps prevent riverbank erosion and protect barangays in Castillejos, and other areas prone to flooding,” District Engineer Rosbe Dizon explained.

DPWH is committed to support the provincial government’s flood mitigation efforts with the construction of structures that may help reduce local flood risks.

“The implementation of these types of projects will not only reduce the damage that flooding can cause to physical infrastructure but it will also help ensure the continuity of economic and social activities in flood-prone areas,” Dizon added.

The P77.20-million infrastructure was funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
