CABANATUAN CITY — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) eyes 12 more infrastructure projects amounting PhP221 million inside Fort Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Ricardo Puno disclosed 10 of the projects will be funded under the Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) Convergence Program of the agency with Department of National Defense while 2 are charged under the Local Infrastructure Program.
Projects under TIKAS Convergence Program include construction of facilities for the Army Artillery Regiment namely the Higher Headquarters Battery; 2nd Air Defense Artillery Battery, Mobile Structures for 2nd 155mm Self-Propelled Battery Facility, two two-storey Officers’ Quarters; and a Headquarters’ Building.
Meanwhile, the old grandstand of Army 7th Infantry Division (7ID) will be removed and replaced by a new one, also located at the parade grounds adjacent to the division’s newly built Headquarters Building.
An apartment building and a multi-purpose facility to cater to the needs of 7ID officers and enlisted personnel is also in the list.
Other projects are a new Administration Building for the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), and two two-storey Barracks for the Light Reaction Regiment.
Meanwhile charged under the Local Infrastructure Program are the construction of a Hangar, and a Headquarters Building for the Army Aviation Regiment.
“We deeply acknowledge their pivotal role in securing the country against insurgency, terrorism and other threats. That is why we are keen in implementing these facilities that will definitely support the modernization of the Armed Forces of the Philippines,” Puno said.
