DPWH to expedite construction of flood control projects in San Leonardo

Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will expedite the construction of two flood control projects in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija.

These include the San Anton Section of the Pampanga River and San Roque Section of the Peñaranda River.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the flood mitigation structures with a combined length of 898 lineal meters will connect to the existing line of flood mitigation structures in those waterways and provide better protection for the communities against possible flooding.

As of June 30, 2022, the construction of the P73.3-million flood control project in San Anton is 51.48 percent complete.

Moreover, construction of flood mitigation structures in San Roque has an 18.94% accomplishment rate.

“Our office is committed to providing our stakeholders with structures that can make them feel safer during the typhoon season, and the completion of these projects will help reduce the effects of flooding in these areas,” Trinidad explained.

The projects have a total allocation of P130 million from the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
