DTI Bulacan assists 4,508 MSMEs in 2017

MALOLOS CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Bulacan Provincial Office assisted 4,508 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in 2017.

This is up from the 4,453 MSMEs assisted in 2016.

“The increase was due to different programs we offered for MSME development and the collaborative efforts of our partner national government agencies, local government units, and those from the private sector,” DTI Provincial Director and Acting Assistant Regional Director Zorina Aldana said.

To accommodate the growing numbers of MSMEs, DTI already established 11 Negosyo Centers located in strategic parts of the province.

“As part of the Trabaho, Negosyo agenda of the Duterte Administration which puts at the center MSMEs and job generation, DTI has set its sight on providing both for Filipinos as more and more entrepreneurs turn to Negosyo Centers for assistance for MSMEs and aspiring entrepreneurs,” she added.

Philippine MSMEs account for 99.5% of the total number of established businesses and employ 62.8% of the country’s workforce, contributing substantially to the country’s manufacturing output and total employment, making it critical engines of economic growth and development. –Vinson F. Concepcion
