‘Wing Walkers,’ 25 giant balloons to grace 22nd Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

CLARK FREEPORT— ‘Wing walker’ daredevils from England and 25 giant balloons will highlight the 22nd Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival slated on February 8 to 11, 2018.

This was learned during the signing of Memorandum of Agreement between Clark Development Corporation (CDC) President-CEO Noel F. Manankil and Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival (PIHABF) President Joy Roa recently here.

The annual balloon fiesta is a flagship tourism project of the state-owned firm.
During the signing, Roa told Manankil that of the 25 hot air balloons at least eight uniquely-shaped balloons will also participate in the upcoming festival to be held at the Omni Aviation Complex.

The dirigibles will come from England, Germany, Switzerland, US, Netherlands, in some Asian countries, and the Philippines, among others will be showcased during the four-day festival in Clark.

Roa added that spectators can look forward to two Stearman airplanes from England that will carry the ‘wing walkers.’ Wing walkers are attached to the wings of the airplane during flight and aerobatic maneuvers. It will be the first time that ‘wing walkers’ participate in the hot air balloon fest and the first in the Philippines.

Entrance tickets cost P500 each and a portion of the ticket income will be donated to PIHABF Foundation Scholarship Fund to help deserving but underprivileged students pursuing an aviation career in partnership with Air Link International Aviation School and the Philippine Air Transport and Training Services. Tickets may be purchased at the fiesta’s official website, SM Ticketnet outlets, CDC’s Tourism and Promotion Division or at the event gates.
