MALOLOS CITY — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the provincial government of Bulacan signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the establishment of the country’s first One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub.
“OTOP Philippines Hub will be located at the present Tatak Bulakenyo Pasalubong Center inside the provincial capitol compound in Malolos City. It is a retail store featuring famed food and non-food OTOP products from different provinces and cities. We are teaming up with local government units, associations, and cooperatives nationwide in transforming pasalubong centers and souvenir shops into a market access platform for mainstream consumers and buyers,” DTI Regional Director Judith Angeles said.
“This will also help our micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) prepare for Go Lokal stores which provide free market access incentives as long as they have quality products. These stores are located in prime malls and tourist destinations,” Angeles added.
OTOP is a banner program that enables localities and communities to determine, develop, support and promote products that are rooted on their culture, resources, creativity, connection, and competitive advantage.
It likewise capacitates MSMEs who are making those OTOP to innovate and produce market-ready products.
