Fernando, Alvarado switch positions

City of Malolos, Bulacan– Former Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado will run for vice governor while Vice Governor Daniel Fernando will run for governor as the two filed their Certificate of Candidacy (COCs) on Tuesday afternoon at the Bulacan Comelec here.

The two will seek reelection under National Unity Party (NUP) in the midterm national and local 2019 elections.

Fernando and Alvarado were accompanied by the 10 aspirants for district board members who also filed their COCs.

Fernando promised to pursue all the good programs of Alvarado particularly the ‘7 Points Agenda’ of the Provincial Government of Bulacan.

Earlier, rumors have it that Alvarado will encourage his son Congressman Jonathan Sy-Alvarado of First District or former Congresswoman Marivic Alvarado to run for governor which runs counter to his promised to Fernando that no Alvarados will face him.

Fernando will face Malolos Mayor Christian Natividad in the gubernatorial race while Alvarado will face Board Member Anjo Mendoza, son of former governor Jonjon Mendoza in the vice gubernatorial post.

Natividad and Mendoza will carry the Partido ng Masang Pilipino-Laban (PDP-Laban) Party who were expected to file their COCs on the last day of filing.
