BALANGA CITY — Residents of Abucay, Bataan are expected to benefit from faster, more streamlined, and transparent financial services as the municipal government strengthens its financial operations through a newly completed digitalization project.

The municipal government of Abucay marked the final acceptance and turnover of the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 Local Government Support Fund–Financial Assistance to Local Government Units (LGSF-FALGU) Information and Communications Technology Systems and Infrastructure Development Project: Digitalization of Payments for Collections and Disbursements on June 2.
Funded under the FY 2024 LGSF-FALGU program, the initiative supports the modernization of local government financial systems through technology-driven solutions designed to improve transaction efficiency, enhance transparency in public fund management, and strengthen accountability in service delivery.
The project also aligns with the national government’s continuing digital transformation agenda under President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which seeks to make public services more efficient, responsive, and citizen-centered.
Under the project, the municipal government received 10 computer sets with printers to support the digitalization of payment processing, collections, and disbursements.
The equipment is expected to streamline financial workflows, reduce processing time, and improve the accuracy and transparency of financial transactions in local government offices.
In his message, Mayor Erik Martel underscored the importance of embracing digital innovation to further improve government service delivery and expressed gratitude to the partners and stakeholders who contributed to the project’s successful implementation.
Meanwhile, Department of the Interior and Local Government Bataan Provincial Director Belina T. Herman commended the municipal government for its commitment to innovation and good governance, emphasizing the role of digital technology in enhancing public service.
“As we embrace digital transformation, we are opening new opportunities to serve our constituents faster, more accurately, and with greater accountability. Through this project, we are strengthening the capacity of the local government unit (LGU) of Abucay to provide convenient and citizen-centered services that align with the demands of the modern era,” Herman said.
With the system now in place, the local government expects more efficient processing of collections and disbursements, supporting its efforts to strengthen public financial management and service delivery.
The initiative reflects the continuing efforts of LGUs to use digital technologies to improve governance, strengthen public financial management, and deliver more accessible and responsive services to the public. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
