APALIT, Pampanga – An official of the Pampanga III Electric Cooperative Inc. (Pelco-3) has described as ‘historic’ the recent 20th Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA).
It was held at the Pelco-3 main office here and attended by at least 13,000 consumers.
Jun Sigua, president of the Pelco-3 board, said it was the first that the highest-ranked National Electrification Administration (NEA) official attended the AGMA.
“This is historic. It was the first time that a NEA administration attended the annual AGMA,” he said.
NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong graced the event. In his speech, he urged the Pelco-3 consumers to continue supporting the
cooperative.
Beth Urbano, Pelco-3 general manager, said the AGMA “is important to update the consumers about the financial and technical situation of the cooperative. She added that Pelco-3’s systems loss is12.18 percent as of October compared to around 38 percent in 2011. She said they have almost achieved the 12-percent systems loss cap set by the Energy Regulatory Commission.
“We used to have an ailing cooperative,” she said.
Urbano said the lower systems loss is a result of several measures implemented by Pelco-3, including replacement of defective meters and transformers, installation of primary metering for systems loss segregation at Sto. Tomas-Minalin boundary, and rehabilitation of
primary and secondary lines in several areas.
As a way of giving back to the 65,000-strong member-consumers, the Pelco-3 administration distributed food packs, grocery packages and raffled off various home appliances and tricycles to those who attended the AGMA.
The Pelco-3 supplies electricity to six Pampanga towns and all of which are in the Fourth District. They are Masantol, Macabebe, Sto. Tomas, Apalit, Candaba and San Luis.
