Japan firm eyes tea facility in Magalang

City of San Fernando – The Kuwanosato Corporation, Japan-based agricultural company is eyeing to build a state-of-the-art mulberry tea processing facility in Magalang town in August, seen to generate more jobs and profitability in the province.

Kuwanosato Manager Han Sonmin said on Monday that Japan is willing to share its best practices to be adapted by the province, such as agricultural modernization to help the government of Pampanga to develop its agro-industry more.
He bared this during a courtesy call held here in the Provincial Capitol on Monday.
On behalf of Pampanga Governor Lilia ‘Nanay-‘ Pineda, Provincial Administrator Andres Pangilinan Jr. and the board members of the province attended the meeting.
“Our dream is to develop Pampanga, with your [Kuwanosato Corporation] help, we could learn more. That would benefit us [Pampanga] a lot especially in agriculture and solid waste management,” the provincial administrator said.
It can be recalled that last year, the firm has announced that its three-year trial for mulberry trees grown at the foot of Mt. Arayat was a success, which urged them [Kuwanosato Corporation] to fund Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) P15-million through Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for its tea processing facility.
Moreover, the provincial government is confident that through the university, they can possibly introduce the adaptation.
The head of Kuwansonato added that their Governor is scheduled to visit the province on August 31 to further promote tourism.

The provincial government thanked the Kuwanosonato company for its effort to offer opportunities in the province, particularly in the farming sector.

Kuwanosato also offers to share with the province its practices in solid waste management, solar power generation, and technological advancement, among others.  –LEAH DE FIESTA | PIO Pampanga
