June 5 declared regular holiday for Eid’l Fitr

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has declared June 5, Wednesday, a regular holiday in the Philippines in observance of the Feast of Ramadan, the Eid’l Fitr.

Proclamation No. 729 says the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the sacred celebration.

Eid’l Fitr, also called the Festival of Breaking the Fast, marks the end of Islamic holy month of fasting.
