Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar: The Best Is Even Better

THERE is always something new at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. It was in 2016 when this reporter first saw the premier destination in Bagac, Bataan.

I was there again early March and noticed a lot more tourists visiting the heritage site.

There were less than 50 old Spanish-Filipino houses back then and now there are 60. At least 38 of the houses are originals, while the rest are replicas.

There are also lots of improvements done to beautify the site. The grass and trees are greener despite the summer heat.

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar is the only Philippine destination that showcases the best of Filipino heritage and culture through the colorful stories as retold by Jose “Jerry” Acuzar’s collection of restored Spanish-Filipino houses.

From the majestic architectural design to heart-warming revival of traditions, Las Casas is a complete package to a one-of-a-kind travel to the past.

All these unique initiatives of Jose Acuzar in line with his mission to bring Filipino heritage to greater heights has caught the attention of the international scene by being the only Philippine property to be a part of the Conde Nast Johansens Luxury Global Collection and Historic Hotels Worldwide.

This heritage resort is also the Asia Awards of Excellence winner for Asia’s most excellent destination for 2017 and is a project of the New San Jose Builders, Inc.

The property was first opened in March 2010. After all these years, it’s but fitting to say that the best is even better. What are you waiting for? Your next summer vacation should be at Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar. (Photos by Ric Gonzales)
