ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr. wants to ensure sufficient, safe, nutritious, and affordable food for his constituents.
“Food security is crucial at this point in time when most of the new generation or millennials no longer intend to work in the fields as they opt to face the challenges in the big cities,” he said.
During the Field Day Celebration and Graduation of the Paaralang Walang Dinding at Barangay Sapalibutad here, Mayor Lazatin vowed that he will strengthen his support to the farmers to assure that every family who resides in the City will have food on their table.
“Nagtapak, nagtanim kami noong nakaraang bisita namin dito. Sabi ko sa inyo, paano namin kayo susuportahan kung hindi namin alam kung anong pakiramdam nang nasa ilalim ng tirik na araw?,” he added.
He then promoted the Hybrid Rice Model Farming. According to the Mayor, the Paaralang Walang Dingding – Farmer Fields School Hybrid Model Farm is a good program for grain farmers to increase their yield.
“Napakagandang programa [nito], na idinala at ginagawa ng Agriculture Office, bang mitas ing yield karas king pamagtanam king kekatamung pale,” he furthered.
For the Mayor, food security should be always top on the list – do not waste food for every grain is equal to the farmers’ hard work.
“Para pamangan eta mu sana kakalingwan. Gyang maburak, masakit ya ing obrang ortelano, mamanga ku keka yu aldo-aldo agyu yu,” he cited.
