Leni, Delta, Oca top survey

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, PAMPANGA – As the presidential campaign officially begins, time is running out to catch up with Vice-President Maria Leonor “Leni” Gerona Robredo. She emerged anew as the top pick among the presidential candidates in the 2022 elections based on THE VOICE NEWSWEEKLY Online Public Survey conducted from January 29 – February 5, 2022 held in the province’s capital with 190,056 total registered voters. 

The news and media website, with print and online platforms, is considered the oldest newsweekly in Central Luzon for the past 67 years and “has persevered in delivering unbiased and credible information to its readers over the past six decades,” according to its Editor-Publisher Lincoln Baluyut.

Respondents were particularly asked, “Who gets your vote for President of the Philippines in May 2022?” The same for Governor, City Mayor and City Vice Mayor.

In the survey results it found 65.75 percent of Fernandinos expressing support for the presidential bid of Robredo in the 2022 national elections. Coming in 2nd place, by a wide margin, was former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos with 26.06 percent. Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso was in 3rd place, with 16.41 percent. Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson came in 4th with 0.8 percent and Senator Emmanuel “Manny/Pacman” Pacquiao with 0.57 percent of the respondents.

Earlier, Robredo also emerged as the top pick among the presidential candidates in the 2022 elections with 41 percent, based on Data Analysis & Research for Elections (D.A.R.E.) Survey conducted from December 27-31, 2021 to January 3-7, 2022 held in Angeles City.

Reelectionist Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda Still Top Poll Choice  

At the local level, reelectionist Governor Pineda is leading with 80.43 percent compared to 19.57 percent obtained by his lone rival Danilo Baylon.

CSF Former Mayor Oscar OCA Rodriguez, Fernandinos’ Best Choice

Meanwhile, the choices in the city level for mayoral race are former and incumbent candidates in various local positions. Former congressman and mayor Oca Rodriguez is the man to beat leading the survey in a wide margin with 59.93 percent amid his late filing of Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on November 15, 2021; (2) Pampanga Third District Board Member Rosve Henson with 38.55 percent; (3) Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin with 0.73 percent; (4) Independent candidate Sandy Quiwa with 0.45 percent and (5) ABC President / Dolores Barangay Chairman Vilma Caluag with 0.34 percent.

Rodriguez, who fathered the Cityhood of San Fernando, was formally endorsed by Robredo and running mate vice-presidential aspirant Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as Liberal Party official mayoral candidate at The Outstanding Fernandino Awards 2022 held at the Heroes’ Hall recently. Rodriguez, a world-class city mayor awardee, has engraved innumerable landmark programs from 2004 until his maximum third term expired in 2013. Among these are: Massive academic scholarships, proper solid waste segregation and disposal, health services, traffic management, socialized housing, the multi-sectoral good governance council, livelihood and employment, disaster mitigation and management, infrastructural development, arts and culture, and other socio-economic development projects.In the vice-mayoralty contest, BJ Tiger Lagman led the survey with 68.91 percent; (2) Noel Tulabut with 24.5 percent and (3) Ariel Pogi Carreon with 6.59 percent.
